Instead of two turntables and a microphone, I have some amazingly talented family and friends joining me in an endeavor to upcycle, reduce, reuse, craft, create, mold, stitch, sew, paint, and fashion amazing art. This art is being made available as affordable gifts. The goal is to have something for everyone for every occasion. Every detail for every occasion is what the mission states.
These gifts will be visible on my Occasionally website and Etsy store. Those links will be made available publicly next week. The gifts will be available through those online venues as well as at various craft markets such as the
Downtown Sidewalk Arts Stroll, first Fridays and possibly Saturday market at
Lowe Mill, and other fairs.
We are starting small, but expect the scope of gifts to grow to make available something for everyone at every price point. Many artists will accept custom orders as well. If you have something you dream of having made, let us know. We can make it happen.
Gifts is the first component of Occasionally. The second component is event planning. I've had to chuckle at a few suggestions that I start compiling a portfolio for this. I have directed the planning of most every event I have hosted over the last 10 years. I was wise enough to document those events. I do not plan to do any large scale event planning until I open my store front, however, I am already in consultation with some of you on some small events. If you are not sure about the scope of your event, just ask. Right now, I am fee free. That is the best time to seek advice, no?
So, I encourage you to bookmark this blog, become a follower, and check the websites frequently. The items available will be constantly changing. The blog will keep you up to date on events, artists, and all kinds of wonderful things to love.
The first order of business, thusly, as she says, is to MARK YOUR CALENDARS for next Thursday evening, May 20, 4:30-8:30 PM. Occasionally will be at the Downtown Sidewalk Arts Stroll around the square in Huntsville. I encourage you to come out, not just for our shop, but to show your support for the art scene in our city as a whole.
As for me selfishly using a piece I made as the header art for the blog, let me address that. I found that little knit Gymboree cap somewhere where I felt it would end up at the bottom of plastic bin somewhere or, worse yet, in the trash. I lovingly crocheted a little flower that reminded me of sunshine. I picked the perfect spot for that little flower on that hat and, now, I think about the sweet little baby that will wear it soon. It'll keep that little pumpkin's head warm, and it'll stay out of the landfills. PLUS, it might become a family heirloom. You never know. Am I getting ahead of myself? Never.
Peace! Love! Enjoy the ride.........................................
