Memorial Day

This unique home decor consists of two stackable blocks that can be configured in multiples ways OR can be used with other message items. One block reads "celebrate", and the other reads "freedom" flanked by stars. The blocks measure approximately 1.25" x 5.75" and 1.25" x 9" respectively and are substantial enough to look gorgeous on a mantel, shelf, or window sill.

These items are courtesy of Bizzy Momma Gifts. Thanks Bizzy Momma!

Father's Day

is about 3 weeks away. Are you going to be stuck again this year trying to think of something clever for dad?

If he is an Auburn fan, he will LOVE this unique photo of Samford Hall. It is an 8"x10" dry mount. It does not come with an easel. It can be displayed with an easle or framed. 5"x10" War Eagle prints are also available!

Thank you to Michelle Van Deusen Photography for these gorgeous photos!

FLOWER POWER

I think you are going to see that title a lot on this blog. That is okay. Everybody needs a little hippie love sometimes.
These pins are gorgeous. They are about 4in in diameter, so they are big enough to make a statement, but they aren't freakishly large. Each petal is hand placed, so these really have dimension and would look great on a hat, bag, scarf, shirt, skirt, or anything. The possibilities are endless AND these are perfect for 'girls' of all ages.
Thanks to Beeping Sleauty for her hard work on these. I also have one in pink, a dark purple, and...my personal favorite although I love them all....a very cool lavender with some dark purple petals. If you want to see how cute it is, you gotta go to the shop!
Alya, hungover from her ER visit last night, says this flower is "pretty". I asked Ben what he thought and he said, "Where is Zeppo?" I kid you not. That's what I am saying. Somebody bring me one of Kudra's shoes.
Just some peace and love aside for you today. Have a chill one!

Let's Paint

or draw, or mold, or glue.....who cares if those crafts are messy, because now your child can have the cutest art smock ever.

I have 2 designs in the shops

PLUG www.wix.com/occasionallyc/occasionally

www.etsy.com/shop/occasionally

thanks to Hootie Patootie, and these can be made to order. They fit a size 3T-8....yes, all those years of wear, in one smock, for one low price. These make absolutely phenomenal gifts too!!!!!

My kids use theirs a minimum of 2 times a week AND they were the MOST stylish kids in their art class this Spring along with their bestie Z who had one, because her mommy IS Hootie Patootie!

So, snatch them up or send me an order request.

Peace and Love, it is going to be a beautiful day!

Sidewalk Arts Stroll May 20

We started out well. The location was PERFECT. We had the southeast corner in front of the empty old Soleil restaurant...next to Harrison's (so no one was on top of us). Everyone stopped and looked. They ooed and ahhhhed and tried on flip flops!!!
The rain moved in rather early. We sold nothing, and a pole to my (borrowed) clothing rack is gone. Otherwise, I felt good about the location and the turnout - even with the rain. The normal crowd and vendors did not come out due to the impending inclement weather. That is to be expected.
We covered everything with plastic before 6, crouched near the building to nosh Papou's, and then bolted.
So, game plan is as follows....we will possibly be doing a Saturday market at Lowe Mill between now and June 15. Next stroll is June 15. I have already requested the same location.
PLEASE share the sites with all your friends. We need all the publicity we can get.

The Show Must Go On

Apparently the fact that canopies are not allowed at this show AND the increasing chances for rain are no deterent for the organizers. They said, bring umbrellas.....so.....bring umbrellas. :)

I suggest parking on Fountain near Gates, in the Fountain garage or in the Clinton garage.

I'll go get our assignment about 1 tomorrow, but won't be online, so just come find us!

Peace!

STARS

Exciting news!!! The stroll got a spot ad on American Idol thank to being a part of the Mayor's ribbon cutting ceremony (I assume for the square renovations). So how about that....."we've" had an American Idol commercial already.

Still waiting on the rain game plan. They aren't allowing canopies, so.......
Looks like it may rain on our "parade". I will post updates. Still plan to come out. Chant "no rain, no rain".

$1

It is official. We have our first sale! Yeah!

Everybody remember the stroll tomorrow night and think positive "no rain" thoughts....and don't go all Blind Melon on me, okay.

Let's Get This Party Started

I know. I know. I am ultra cheesy and my jokes are so horrible. My creative energy is spent elsewhere.

Where It's At

Instead of two turntables and a microphone, I have some amazingly talented family and friends joining me in an endeavor to upcycle, reduce, reuse, craft, create, mold, stitch, sew, paint, and fashion amazing art. This art is being made available as affordable gifts. The goal is to have something for everyone for every occasion. Every detail for every occasion is what the mission states.

These gifts will be visible on my Occasionally website and Etsy store. Those links will be made available publicly next week. The gifts will be available through those online venues as well as at various craft markets such as the Downtown Sidewalk Arts Stroll, first Fridays and possibly Saturday market at Lowe Mill, and other fairs.

We are starting small, but expect the scope of gifts to grow to make available something for everyone at every price point. Many artists will accept custom orders as well. If you have something you dream of having made, let us know. We can make it happen.

Gifts is the first component of Occasionally. The second component is event planning. I've had to chuckle at a few suggestions that I start compiling a portfolio for this. I have directed the planning of most every event I have hosted over the last 10 years. I was wise enough to document those events. I do not plan to do any large scale event planning until I open my store front, however, I am already in consultation with some of you on some small events. If you are not sure about the scope of your event, just ask. Right now, I am fee free. That is the best time to seek advice, no?

So, I encourage you to bookmark this blog, become a follower, and check the websites frequently. The items available will be constantly changing. The blog will keep you up to date on events, artists, and all kinds of wonderful things to love.

The first order of business, thusly, as she says, is to MARK YOUR CALENDARS for next Thursday evening, May 20, 4:30-8:30 PM. Occasionally will be at the Downtown Sidewalk Arts Stroll around the square in Huntsville. I encourage you to come out, not just for our shop, but to show your support for the art scene in our city as a whole.

As for me selfishly using a piece I made as the header art for the blog, let me address that. I found that little knit Gymboree cap somewhere where I felt it would end up at the bottom of plastic bin somewhere or, worse yet, in the trash. I lovingly crocheted a little flower that reminded me of sunshine. I picked the perfect spot for that little flower on that hat and, now, I think about the sweet little baby that will wear it soon. It'll keep that little pumpkin's head warm, and it'll stay out of the landfills. PLUS, it might become a family heirloom. You never know. Am I getting ahead of myself? Never.

Peace! Love! Enjoy the ride.........................................
